Auditions

Our auditions are a great way to see what NYGE has to offer. ROUND 1 – submit a video of yourself playing two contrasting pieces, this round is free! ROUND 2 – Guitarists selected to go through to round 2 will be invited to spend a day with NYGE at our Easter Residential, there will be an audition fee of £30 if selected for this stage.

 

It’s really important to us that your audition is a positive experience.  You will receive detailed feedback about your video performance, whatever the result.

2024 auditions

We are holding auditions for our growing ensembles in London, Birmingham and Cardiff. The first round of auditions will be via video. The second round of auditions will be at our Easter residential where successful candidates will be invited to spend a day with NYGE at Bloxham School, Banbury.

You will receive detailed feedback about your performance via email, and a decision on whether you have been invited to progress to the second round.

Information

Applicants for NYGE regional ensembles must be aged 12-18 on 1st September 2025 and for the NYGE Fellowship must be aged 18-26 on 1st September 2025. All applicants will receive written feedback and those who progress to round 2 will receive information once auditions have closed.

    An audition is a snapshot of each guitarist who applies for a place in the National Youth Guitar Ensemble. In order for our audition panel to gain as full a picture as possible of each candidate, we highly value a musical reference from your current guitar teacher.
