The World Youth Guitar Festival

WYGF was founded in 2007 and it is a residential summer camp for guitarists aged 8-18 years old. Whether you are just starting out or already playing at an advanced level, there’s a place for you. 

Come with your friends, join as part of a group, or come on your own. However you do it, you’ll meet loads of other young musicians and make new friends along the way. everyone’s welcome!

What to expect at WYGF

Playing together every morning

Start each day by being a part of a guitar orchestra matched to your playing level. With help from our brilliant tutors you’ll improve your skills, learning new music and most importantly, have fun!

Choose your own musical adventure

In the afternoons, it’s your choice. Pick a pathway and spend the festival exploring new styles and techniques, getting creative with your music.

Activities

There’s always plenty going on! We’ve done things like African Drumming, swimming, Circus Skills, playing the Spoons, composing, improvisation or even learning how to re-string your guitar!

Showcase concerts

Every year visiting group ensembles are invited to perform as part of a showcase concert. To date we have enjoyed performances by Bad Nauheim Guitar Ensemble (DEU), Corinium Players (UK), GUITAR CIRCUS (UK), Guitarstrophe (AUS), Guildhall School of Music & Drama Junior Dept (UK), Haringey Guitar Ensemble (UK), Holme Valley Music Centre Ensemble (UK), National Youth Guitar Ensemble (UK) and Twango (UK) to name a few.
