Guitar Circus takes the safety and wellbeing of both students and staff very seriously during episodes of severe weather. We carefully consider any decision to cancel monthly NYGE rehearsals as we understand the disruption that this can cause to both parents and students. We therefore only take this course of action as a last resort. In the unfortunate event that we do have to cancel a rehearsal, we will aim to give at least 24 hours notice and where possible, attempt to re-schedule to another date.
NYGE Residentials happen twice a year; at Easter for our Foundation and Camerata ensembles and in the summer holidays for our Camerata and Fellowship ensembles. They form a crucial part of the NYGE calendar providing the opportunity for students to perform the repertoire that they have been learning during their monthly rehearsals. This is not all, Camerata and NYGE ensembles also enjoy a larger orchestral experience at the residential courses when all the NYGE regional ensembles come together forming an impressive NYGE combined orchestra and NYGE Camerata Orchestra to perform pieces that they have prepared at home!
During the courses the ensembles rehearse for up to five hours a day. In the afternoon students have some free time to unwind, where they can attend specialist workshops or use the venues sports and games facilities or just simply relax. Some students choose to revise for upcoming GCSE’s or A Level exams in their free time, not a moment is wasted! Each evening the course mentors organise social activities, which can include games, quiz and open mic nights. The intensive week of rehearsals concludes with a concert at a prestigious venue.
